Details: You will be helping Sacred Heart Community Service register thousands of families and 3,300 children to receive backpacks and schools supplies on this one-day event. Families start lining up before the sun comes up and by 8:00 AM the line spans several city blocks. This is where we find out how many backpacks we need for each grade. Shortly after Registration Day we begin ordering supplies. The backpacks are given away on the August 12th Distribution Day.

Time:
Shift #1 is from 8:15 AM to 11:15 AM. [FULL – Additional requests will added to a standby list]
Shift #2 is from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. [FULL – Additional requests will added to a standby list]
Please only sign up for a shift if you are certain you can attend. Sacred Heart Community Service is counting on our help that morning to server thousands of families that will be registering for backpacks.
Location: Sacred Heart Community Service, 1381 S. First Street, San Jose, CA 95110
Parking: You’ll want to park across the street in the Walmart parking lot and walk to Sacred Heart Community Service. There will be no parking available at Sacred Heart and parking in the surrounding neighborhood is sparse.
Volunteer: Sign-up online to volunteer and indicate which shift you want to attend.
